Ultra HDTVs Get Price Reductions

LG 65LA9700It seems consumers haven’t taken to new 4K technology to the extent that manufacturers were hoping for. This can partly be attributed to the lack of 4K-ready content, but the higher cost is another reason. So, in a bid to stimulate the flagging Ultra HDTV market, Sony, Samsung, and LG have all recently announced price reductions on their 4K sets.

Sony’s 55-inch XBR-55X900A and 65-inch XBR-65X900A are now listed at $3,998 and $5,498 respectively. Samsung’s equivalents are selling for $500 more. The Samsung UN55F9000 now retails at $4,498 and the UN65F9000 at $5,998. However, despite all three companies lowering their prices by $1,000-1,500, LG’s sets still come out as the most pricey, with the 55LA9700 now selling at $4,999 and 65LA9700 at $6,499.

All six television mentioned above feature LED screen technology with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, four times that of current HD.
