Sony Present Their First Home Theatre Sound Bar

Sony HT-ST7Sony have entered the burgeoning sound bar market with the HT-ST7, a 7.1 channel speaker that simulates surround sound and offers high performance audio for all your film, music and/or video game usage.

The HT-ST7 boasts a 450watt system that supports 7 amplifiers and 9 drivers. It also comes with a dual wireless subwoofer and 7 inputs in total — 3 HDMI, three 3 audio and 1 analogue. It also supports both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding as well as Bluetooth capabilities and OneTouch NFC technology.

The Sony HT-ST7 is currently available in the US, with the RRP set at $1,299.99. Aimed at the premium end of the sound bar market, it faces stiff competition from other manufacturers who have taken the more affordable route, such as the Sonos Playbar, which retails for about half the price; or the even cheaper SB301523 by Sceptre, which costs a little over 10% of Sony’s model, although it doesn’t come with many of the features.
