Panasonic Unveils 4K Tablet Plans

Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT MB5Panasonic has revealed that they are currently working on a 4K tablet, set for expected release in Europe sometime during November 2013.

The Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 has about 4 times the pixel count of current 1080p tablets (yes, you read that right). The 20-inch screen (an IPS Alpha Panel) has an aspect ration of 15:10 with 230 ppi, 10-point multitouch capabilities and over 16 million colours. The display will also be compatible with Anoto Live high resolution digital pens.

Running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit, the device will be powered by an Intel Core i5 3427U vPro 1.80 GHz processor with NVIDIA GeForce Graphics and up to 16GB of ram. Other features that have been confirmed include a 720p camera, three USB 3.0 ports as well as HDMI and SD card inputs.

Panasonic showed off a Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 prototype during Berlin’s IFA 2013 trade show, which ran earlier this month.
